Products Overview

SHARI (SA818 Ham Allstar Radio Interface) is a ham construction project that implements a Raspberry Pi hosted Allstar node using a NiceRF SA818 embedded UHF (420 – 450 MHz) or VHF (144-148 MHz) radio module.  SHARI plugs into two USB jacks on a Raspberry Pi2, 3 or 4. There are 4 versions of SHARI:

  • SHARI Pi3U (UHF for the Pi3)
  • SHARI Pi3V (VHF for the Pi3
  • SHARI Pi4U (UHF for the Pi4)
  • SHARI Pi4V (VHF for the Pi4)

SHARI PiHat is a ham construction project that implements a Raspberry Pi hosted Allstar node using a NiceRF SA818 embedded UHF (420 – 450 MHz) or VHF (144-148 MHz) radio module. The PC board use a slightly modified PiHat form factor which plugs into the GPIO connector on a Raspberry Pi4 so the Allstar node is contained in a single enclosure. Options include:

  • VHF (2 meters) or UHF (70 cm)
  • External fan

SHARI PiHat (Unistorm Case) is a ham construction project that implements a Raspberry Pi hosted Allstar node using a NiceRF SA818 embedded UHF (420 – 450 MHz) or VHF (144-148 MHz) radio module. This case allows the use of a Raspberry Pi3 or Pi4 server. The PC board conforms to the PiHat form factor. It plugs into the GPIO connector on a Raspberry Pi so the Allstar node is contained in a single enclosure. Options include:

  • VHF (2 meters) or UHF (70 cm)
  • Raspberry Pi3 or Pi4
  • External fan
  • Straight or right-angle antenna

SHARI PiZero is a ham construction project that implements a Raspberry PiZero 2W hosted Allstar node using a NiceRF SA818 embedded UHF (420 – 450 MHz) or VHF (144-148 MHz) radio module. The PiZero is a daughter board which plugs into the SHARI motherboard via the Pi GPIO connector. The SHARI motherboard contains a USB hub providing three external microB USB ports. An internal plug-in cable connects the PiZero USB port to the SHARI motherboard.

DINAH (DIN connector based Allstar interface for Hams) is a kit construction project that implements a radio interface to a Raspberry Pi running Allstar software.  DINAH plugs into a USB jack on a Raspberry Pi. A standard 6 pin miniDIN cable connects DINAH to any radio with a 6 pin miniDIN packet interface (also called a data interface).

BRIAN (SM) (Baofeng BF-88S Radio Interface to the Allstar Networkis a kit construction project that implements a Raspberry Pi hosted Allstar node using the circuit board and other parts from a Baofeng BF-888S as the node radio operating in the amateur UHF (70 cm) band. BRIAN connects to a Raspberry Pi using a short USB cable.

PAUL (Packet and Allstar Universal Link) is a kit construction project that implements a radio interface to a Raspberry Pi running Allstar software.  PAUL plugs into a USB jack on a Raspberry Pi using a USB A to Mini B cable. A standard DE9 connector (9 pin dsub) with typical TNC pinout is used for I/O to the radio. COS and PTT utilize optically coupled solid state releays.
